In field of medicine, a surgeon is a specialist in surgery. A surgeon cuts a body for certain reason as to remove a tissue or to repair a tear or broken muscle. Surgeons can be dentists, physicians, podiatrist or veterinarians. The Royal College of Surgeons of England in London began to offer surgeons a formal status through RCS membership in 1800.

A cosmetic surgeon is a surgeon who performs cosmetic surgery in order enhance the appearance of a patient. It is necessary for a cosmetic surgeon to complete a residency in plastic surgery which can last 5-7 years. Cosmetic surgeons work in hospitals and cosmetic surgery clinics. Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both nonsurgical and surgical means to treat the patients. An orthopedic surgeon treats sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors and congenital disorders. Surgeon General is very important part in the medical field. A surgeon general treats a patient for injuries, deformities and diseases either by operation or manually. A surgeon general specialize in many surgical procedures. A surgeon general does not operate in any one procedure like a plastic surgeon.
